Five Years?

Below is a post I came across tonight as I was opening and re-reading documents I've written in the past. This post is one written last year with my five year hopes. Walking through a season of confusion recently, reading these dreams brings solace. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?

Dear Courtney,

This is an activity I am doing in my English Corner regarding the Future: Who will I be in 5 years? Where will I be in 5 years? Who will I be with in 5 years?

In five years I will be 27. Wow that is kind of a scary thought! But, I hope I will not have wasted one day of those five years! I hope to be continually refined and closer to my Father than I have ever been before. I want to be in a place like my place here in China- the middle of God’s will for my life.

I hope to have a husband, and hopefully starting a family in five years. I want to be in the arms of a faithful and strong warrior of the Kingdom- devoted to the Lord’s affairs in body and mind. I want to have a Labrador puppy in our backyard.

I hope my relationship with my sister is mended if not thriving. I hope to have seen my brother married to the love of his life. I hope to be living close to my family and close to the beach. I also hope to have a horsey!

I hope to have written a book. I hope to find a career that I am passionate about and that I think is honorable and pleasing to my Heavenly Father.

I hope regardless of where I am, I will never forget the things I have learned living here in china and that I will forever be changed by this radical life experience and adventure. I hope to forever love others more than I have loved myself.
