orientation, integrity, and familiar faces

Today was Orientation day for all incoming DTS students. It began early with a few groans after working the night shift, but it blossomed into a day of laughter and giddiness as the Father unfolded a picture of the community I'm now entering into for this season of my life.

My roommate (who was in China with me) and I walked down to the seminary and joined the 200+ other new students in angst and excitement of the year ahead. There was trepdiation lurking in each of us as we scouted the room out for future friends, classmates, and faculty. By His awesomeness, we found ourselves sitting at a table with other women who are entering our MABC program as well. We enjoyed chatting with them over breakfast burritos (uh, yum!). As the day progressed, we met many new faces. Three faces in particular carry the familiarity of home with their almond shaped dark eyes, light skin, and beautiful accents. He provided 3 Chinese friends. What a gift. The International students were introduced somewhere towards the beginning and Ashley and I immediately made a bee line for them at the break. We practically scared them off with our intense enthusiasm that God would provide us with a taste of the season we just left!

Apart from this sweet gift, I have fallen in love in one day. Now, this isn't the typical "romantic" love that all those Cinderella-aspiring women dream of... nope, this is a love for a sweet little old man who happens to be our Chaplain! I have determined to be adopted by him and his wife! He is so full of energy you would hardly know his age, he had quick wit, but an even quicker directing ability to turn all things to our Heavenly Father. He also seemed to get brownie points in my book with the busting out of his little trumpet that he mastered beat-red face and all! And, the cherry on top was the songs he lead us in for worship! Singing hymms from the depths of his being, all I can say is I'm excited to be under the shepherding of this little man who so infectiously carries a joy bigger than life itself for his personal Savior and Creator!

Needless to say, orientation was a great introduction to the school! And God has also answered one of my fervent prayer requests... a mentorship/dischipleship relationship! With the Women's Ministry on campus, there is a program that seeks to live out Titus 2 through intentional one-on-one older/younger women relationships in a discipleship/mentorship style! I cannot wait to see God's grandeur as I study the Word under another woman! Please be lifting that to the Father!

Prayer Request: finances... please pray that He provides finances for schooling so that I will not further myself in debt, but to be freed of debt in a way that I can continue to pursue ministry with my career and not turn it down due to financial obligations! He says we receive not because we ask not... please ask with me ya'll!

In Christ's Love!

Psalm 101: Let's choose integrity in all we do, whether home alone or out in public :)

"I will sing of  your love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will sing praise. I will be careful to lead a blameless life- when will  you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart. I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me. Men of perverse heart shall be far from me. I will have nothing to do with evil. Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence; whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, him will I not endure. My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he whose walk is blameless will minister to me. No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence. Every monring I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord."
